New trade fair for the supply market in Southeast Europe from 23–25 June 2009 in Salzburg
euroSUPPLY – 1st International Trade Fair for Parts, Components and Technologies
Stuttgart/Salzburg – euroSUPPLY, the first international get-together for the supply industry and its customers in the Euroregion of Austria, Southeast Germany and the neighbouring countries of Central and Eastern Europe, took place in the Salzburg Exhibition Centre from 23–25 June 2009 and attracted 128 exhibitors from 10 countries. 1,334 visitors from the automotive, electronics, machinery and plant construction industries sourced information on the range of products offered. euroSUPPLY was accompanied by euroLITE, the only trade fair in Europe that reflects the entire spectrum of software tools, materials and manufacturing technologies for lightweight design, which took place for the third time and attracted a further 181 exhibitors.
Especially the automotive industry and the machinery and plant construction industry offer a large growth potential in the Euroregion of Austria, South Germany, East Switzerland, North Italy and the neighbouring states of Southeast and Eastern Europe. This economic region is also strongly growth-orientated in many other industrial sectors. Despite this, no information and procurement platform clearly geared to the requirements of the supply market has been available here until now. The first euroSUPPLY from 23–25 June 2009 has now closed this gap. The exhibition portfolio covers materials; metal processing and machining; electronics and electrical engineering; plastic, rubber and composite material processing; tool and mould making; prototype construction; tools and tool manufacture; joining, connecting and fastening techniques; outsourcing and services.
In addition to many individual exhibitors from Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Poland and Hungary, there were pavilions from Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
Altogether 1,334 visitors gathered information from the 128 exhibitors from 10 countries. In view of the general slump throughout the industry and the resulting cut-backs in travel made by the clients placing contracts, this is no great surprise. “We didn’t expect a record for visitors,” says Claus Hähnel, Managing Director of H & K Messe GmbH, commenting on the number of visitors at euroSUPPLY 2009, “but the very high professional qualifications and decision-making authority of the visitors at this premiere were convincing. The good cooperation with the Bavarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Salzburg and Upper Austrian Chambers of Commerce, and Austria’s first automotive cluster, Acstyria, certainly also made a substantial contribution to the quality of the visitors.”
“At the same time, this must not hide the fact that we must continue to step up our visitor promotion activities for the coming event,” adds Hähnel. “Nowadays, a large number of visitors no longer guarantees the success of an exhibition. We are discussing this more intensively with our exhibitors and potential partners with the aim of developing more instruments to attract a higher quality of visitors than previously.”
The basis for these instruments has already been introduced successfully in organizing this year’s euroSUPPLY. The new ordering and registration system used by H & K Messe provides a separate database with exclusive access for each exhibitor to enable him to actively follow up targeted visitors in advance and invite them to visit the exhibition. 20.7 % of the visitors at euroSUPPLY came from the automotive and commercial vehicle industries, 19.5 % from the electronics industry, 16.1 % from rail vehicle construction, 15,2 % from the energy and supply sector, and another 16.3 % from machinery and plant construction.
